Industry today frequently needs a power supply of constant voltage or a supply that can be varied smoothly on load to control a process. AEG meets these needs through voltage regulating transformers.
AEG Automatic Voltage Regulators are suitable for many varied applications and can be installed either indoor or outdoor. These are essentially auto wound transformer having single layer helical coil mounted on a conventional laminated transformer core.
Self-lubricated Graphite Rollers, assembled on fibreglass carrier boards traverse the length of the coil track.
The control is based on a simple closed loop with a voltage-monitoring relay on the output side of the regulator and relay sends signal to the controlling servo-motor which drives roller mechanism.
HT AVR supplies rated Stabilized Voltage to the Transformer and thereby the utilization of the Transformer will be up to full rated KVA rating and is protected from High/Low voltage fluctuation. In case of the LT. AVR, Transformer capacity is restricted eg. at Lower Input Voltage, say 300 Volts in 500 KVA Transformer for 433 Volts input, the actual capacity of the transformer will be reduced to (300/433)x500 = 346KVA
HT. Installation of Standard Distribution Transformer the customer faces low/high voltage problem on the LT. Side affecting the rated voltage of the machines and thereby damages motor and other sophisticated equipment.
The standard Off-Circuit tappings of the Transformers can correct limited voltage variations and cannot regulate the voltage while in ‘on load’ condition.
AEG has developed transformers with built-in, HT. Automatic Voltage Regulators and operate ‘on load’ steplessly and can also be installed either Indoor/Outdoor.
The equipments are basically combination of Standard Distribution Transformer and HT. Automatic Voltage Regulator. The incoming fluctuating HT. Supply is initially stabilized, then fed to Transformer and thereby the LT. Output is maintained within +1% accuracy. The design is robust and needs no regular maintenance.
